Christy was certified as a Franchised Jazzercise instructor in 1992 and has been in the fitness industry teaching ever since. She is also a Certified Group Fitness Instructor through AFAA as well as a Certified Personal Trainer through ACSM. She has 20+ years of traditional martial arts experience, including Shotokan Karate and Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu. Continuing to expand her knowledge base she received a certification in Seifukujitsu (Deep Tissue Restoration Therapy) to better understand how bodies work. She has continued her education through many avenues of fitness, including a group exercise certification with KettleBell Concepts. She is licensed to teach Zumba and TRX Suspension training and completed a TRX® Training for Active Seniors course. Born and raised in Reno, she is a local through and through, including graduating from UNR with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Zumba Gold – Perfect for active adults who are looking for a slightly modified class that moves you at a lower-intensity without losing all the fun. The class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba® choreography that focuses on muscular conditioning, balance, range of motion and coordination. Come ready to sweat and leave feeling stronger.
Anti-Aging Bootcamp – This circuit style class is designed for the active aging adult who wants to challenge their strength and conditioning in a safe and effective manner. It starts with a 5 minute warm-up, followed by 20-30 minutes of strength and conditioning with TRX straps, weights, Kettle bells, bikes, rower and other equipment, followed by a final 5-10 minutes of stretching and mobility work. A great way to build strength and stability in a fun and supportive atmosphere!
Balance & Stability – We call this, our free-for-all, freaky, Friday class. It’s designed to be a recovery after all the hard work from the week, and focuses on stretch and toning exercises. Anything goes on this day, from ballet to martial arts, to foam rolling. Lots of stretching and mobility work with some balance thrown in for good measure. Prepare to leave feeling refreshed and revitalized.
